Since you spend a lot of time in your sanctuary, the bathroom, you can undertake bathroom remodeling in creative ways to meet your requirements, without spending much money. You need to evaluate the space available for bathroom remodel, along with your budget and whether you need a partial or full remodeling.

Simple ways to renovate your existing bathroom

Bathroom remodel can take on several forms and themes, providing you ample scope for experimentation. Make innovative use of the bathroom walls other than the wall housing the shower panel. Simply add glass shelves to the corners of the house toiletries and cosmetics. Put towel holders with hooks to hang clothes and to accommodate fresh towels. Place a cabinet below the washbasin countertop or on the bathroom walls for storing extra towels, soaps, lotions and toilet rolls. Partition the bathroom into dry and wet areas by just hanging a shower curtain across the length of the bathroom. Add some green to the bathroom in the form of tiny green plants or artificial flowers that you can place on the countertop, or the windowsill.

Bathroom remodeling can include increasing the space available by adding free space or breaking a few walls. This is possible if you stay in your own home and not a rented accommodation. However, you must plan every aspect in detail for efficient remodeling with minimum inconvenience. With a bigger budget, you may change the flooring to go with the new color scheme of the bathroom. Additionally putting new faucets, sinks, shower panels, toilet bowls or bathtubs can completely transform your private space. Adding a terrazzo countertop can add class to your bathroom without costing the earth.

If changing the flooring go for materials that can withstand continuous water exposure and are not slippery. Ceramic tiles, vinyl wood, marble, and granite are some available options. You can even have different floorings for the wet and dry areas with carpets or mats to distinguish between the two. Further, you can add an enclosed shower cubicle with steam, a bathtub and or a Jacuzzi depending on the space available.

Repaint the bathroom in fresh colors to go with or in contrast to the flooring. You can paint one wall in a bright color, to give an illusion of space. Placing a beveled mirror across one wall of the bathroom also enhances the look and size of the bathroom.

You may go for the old world look with antique finish faucets in brass or gold, and vessel sinks. Sleek, stainless steel fixtures and pedestal sinks give a contemporary touch to the bathroom. Try fixtures in twin tones to match the color scheme of the bathroom. Hang pictures of flowers or in the scenic countryside in arty frames for an old world charm reflecting Victorian boudoirs. Use wooden cabinets in solid colors with pastel shades on the bathroom walls.
